Day 1 El Calafate Airport – El Calafate

We welcome you at El Calafate Airport then we transfer to the hotel for the check in. The rest of the day is at leisure to visit the city on our own.

Day 2 Perito Moreno Glacier with Minitreking

We dedicate this day to one of the World’s Natural Wonder: the Moreno glacier. This ice field- type glacier flows down from the Patagonian Icefield, a big sheet of ice that with its 22.000 square kilometers is the third largest glacier area in the world, after Antarctica (14 M sq km) and Greenland (1 M sq km). Because unusual favorable local conditions, this glacier is the only one in the world that shows a closure and rupture process. The road leads to the very front of the glacier, which will be only meters away from your eyes. The roar of the chunks of ice falling inside the glacier or from the glacier into the lake, the frequent collapse of the front seracs into the turquoise water, makes out of this day a very special and unique experience. Then we will take a boat trip to see incredible views of the south face of Perito Moreno glacier. Once we disembark, we will be greeted by mountain guides, who will lead us to a shelter with sanitary facilities. From there, we will begin a brief walk along the shore of the lake, which includes a talk on glaciology in general and the Perito Moreno Glacier in particular. Upon reaching the edge of the glacier, the guides will form subgroups of a maximum 20 people each, and will fit you with crampons and helmets. Once on the ice, we will receive a brief safety talk, and will begin the walk.

Always with the help of our mountain guides, you’ll enjoy this natural ice paradise. At the end of the walk, we will return to the shelter along a walkway crossing the lush Patagonian Andean forest. Shortly afterwards, we will board the boat to return to the port. Then we go back to our hotel at El Calafate.

Day 3 El Calafate

After breakfast the rest of the morning is at leisure to do any of the optional excursions or to visit the city on our own.

Day 4 Kayak

Today we start our day with a bus transfer to Parador La Leona, where we will meet kayaking guide. Surrounded by a landscape of outstanding natural beauty and geological interest, we will paddle and hike the wild steppe where the senses are sharpened and the sounds of silence are witnesses of time. The contrast of the ocher steppe with turquoise glacial waters that delighted explorers such as Darwin, Moyano and Moreno, frame the journey. 8 miles paddling along one of the most stuning Patagonian steppe rivers and hiking through los Hornos Mount discovering the beginings of Patagonian geography where we can see petrified trees and bones.
